The underlying harm is real and serious, and this site does not minimize it. In March 2026 three Tennessee teenagers filed a class-action lawsuit alleging that xAI's image tools were used to generate nonconsensual nude and sexually explicit images of them — a genuine, documented harm that AI image generators have made easier across the industry. Content-safety failures around minors are among the most legitimate criticisms any generative-AI company can face. Where "xAI does nothing" is wrong is the second half of the story: in July 2026 xAI itself sued a user for using Grok to generate CSAM, in one of the first lawsuits a tech company has filed against a user for creating such material — alleging he breached its Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy, which prohibit exactly that. A company suing its own users to enforce a no-CSAM policy is not one that "does nothing," even as the teens' lawsuit shows its guardrails have real gaps. Verdict: mixed — the harm and the lawsuit against xAI are real and damning; the claim that xAI is indifferent is contradicted by its own enforcement action.
