The events are real. On January 16, 2025, Starship's Flight 7 broke apart minutes after launch and debris fell over the Turks and Caicos Islands — the Turks and Caicos airport authority diverted and grounded flights, and the FAA activated a debris-response area as aircraft held nearby on low fuel. It happened again on March 6, 2025: Flight 8 broke up during ascent, scattering debris through the skies over south Florida and the Bahamas and prompting the FAA to issue brief ground stops at the Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach and Orlando airports. Debris from test rockets over inhabited areas is a legitimate safety and airspace concern, and regulators were right to scrutinise it. What the "doesn't care about safety" framing leaves out is that these are experimental test flights run under active FAA oversight, not in a vacuum. The Turks and Caicos government reported no injuries and only minimal property damage from the January breakup, airspace was managed in real time, and each failure triggered an FAA mishap investigation. That oversight is not perfect — the FAA cleared Flight 8 after reviewing SpaceX's early findings but before formally closing the Flight 7 investigation — and iterative, sometimes-explosive testing is how SpaceX develops hardware fast. But "rains debris and doesn't care about safety" recasts a regulated test campaign, conducted under FAA oversight, as reckless indifference. Verdict: misleading — debris over populated areas was real and happened more than once, which is worth scrutiny; the sweeping "doesn't care about safety" charge is the part the record does not support.
