Tesla builds its 8-millionth vehicle
Tesla passed 8 million cumulative vehicles produced during 2025 — a scale that seemed impossible when the near-bankrupt company was building a few thousand Roadsters.

During 2025 Tesla rolled its 8-millionth vehicle off the line, a milestone that underscores how far the company scaled from the days when it hand-built a few hundred Roadsters and nearly collapsed in 2008. The bulk of that volume is the Model 3 and Model Y, the latter having become the best-selling vehicle of any kind on Earth.
Reaching eight million cars is not just a vanity number: it represents the manufacturing learning curve — across four continents of Gigafactories — that drove down battery and production costs and forced the entire auto industry to take electric vehicles seriously. Each million comes faster than the last as new plants ramp.
It also seeds the rest of Tesla's flywheel. Millions of cars on the road generate the real-world driving data that trains Full Self-Driving, build out demand for the Supercharger network, and create a vast installed base for software and service revenue — advantages a new entrant cannot quickly replicate.
